Distribution Case Study

In mid 2005 an associate suggested that our experience in the building industry may be of benefit to one of his clients who manufactured roofing materials.

Former Operation

Distribution operation based in central England, manufacturing facility in the Highlands. Product trunked weekly down to their distribution point with bulk deliveries being made en route down and back up again. Own fleet providing local support and making demand driven deliveries.

Problem

Own deliveries were not cost efficient due to the amount of product that could be carried versus the number of drops that needed to be made. The cost per pallet / per deck metre delivered was significantly higher than industry averages.
